Lavender is one of the most versatile and popular essential oils in aromatherapy being well known to calm anxiety and promote a sense of well being. It has a light floral and woody fragrance. The lavender essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from lavender flowers. Lavender sachets made from dried lavender buds filled inside muslin bags have been used since ancient times to keep linens fresh as well being placed below pillows for good sleep. While not endemic to India, lavender grown in Kashmir (of the genus Lavendula Augustifolia) which is the one in this wax tablet is today one of the highest quality lavenders found in the world.
